PMI Malta Project Recognition Awards
The PMI Malta Project Recognition Awards are an evidence-based recognition programme designed to recognise organisations that demonstrate strong project practices and outcomes.
Each eligible project will be assessed independently against a common PMI Malta framework. Recognition will be awarded where the required standard is achieved.
The programme is open to different project approaches and methodologies. Applicants are not required to have used a particular project management, agile or change management methodology. The assessment focuses on whether the approach was appropriate, effectively applied and supported by relevant evidence.
What the Awards Assess
Projects will be assessed across three areas:
- Governance – 30%: How the project was justified, sponsored, governed and controlled, including accountability, decision-making, financial oversight and the management of major risks and issues.
- Project Delivery – 40%: How effectively the project was planned, managed, adapted and delivered against its objectives and intended outcomes.
- Engagement and Change Management – 30%: How stakeholders were engaged and how the resulting change was prepared for, supported, adopted and sustained.
Applicants will provide a narrative response and selected supporting evidence for each area. Assessment will consider the quality, relevance and strength of the evidence rather than the volume of documents submitted.
How the Process Works
Organisations submit one complete application for each project through a single structured form. The application covers:
- organisation and project details;
- eligibility and applicant declarations;
- governance;
- project delivery;
- engagement and change management;
- supporting evidence; and
- final confirmation before submission.
Applications will be accepted from 1 October to 31 December 2026.
Following the application deadline, PMI Malta will confirm that the submission meets the eligibility requirements, includes all mandatory information and declarations, and provides accessible supporting evidence.
This is an administrative review and does not influence the project’s assessment score. PMI Malta may request minor missing administrative information within a specified period.
Eligible applications will be reviewed by experienced assessors using a common evidence-based scoring framework.
Where information or evidence is unclear, PMI Malta may request targeted written clarification or arrange a short interview. Clarification may explain or validate the original submission, but it cannot be used to materially improve or redesign it.
Assessment scores will be reviewed through a moderation and quality-check process to support fairness and consistent application of the framework.
Every eligible project that completes the assessment will receive a private outcome containing:
- the overall recognition result;
- domain-level scores or ratings, where approved for disclosure;
- a concise summary of key strengths; and
- a concise summary of areas for improvement.
Detailed submissions, evidence, scores and assessor comments will remain confidential and will not be published.
Recognition is based on the project’s final overall score:
- Platinum: 90 to 100
- Gold: 80 to 89
- Silver: 70 to 79
- No Recognition: Below 70
Projects achieving Silver, Gold or Platinum recognition will receive a formal certificate. Recognised projects may also be featured in PMI Malta communications and presented at the Awards event, subject to the publication permissions agreed with the applicant.
